Obituary

Wilma Saturday Crosby, a beloved resident of Savannah, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, at the age of 101. Born on a vibrant Saturday, May 16th, 1925, in Collins, Georgia, Wilma led a long and fulfilling life, leaving a legacy of love, family, and community spirit.

Wilma was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lee Saturday, her mother, Sarah Viola Saturday, her devoted spouse, James Ross Crosby, and her cherished daughter, Betty Clark. Her strength and resilience were admired by all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Shirley (Mike) May, and her devoted son, John (Janis) Crosby. Wilma's vibrant family also includes six cherished grandchildren: Shawn (Kris) May, James May, Matthew (Madelyn) Crosby, Jennifer Crosby and Kate Oatman, Rhonda (Johnny) Clinton, and Derrick Clark. Her legacy continues through her nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Wilma found great fulfillment in her work at Belk, where she was a dedicated and respected employee. Beyond her professional endeavors, she also enriched her community by providing help to others through care giving, touching many lives with her kindness and generosity.

Among her many achievements, Wilma was proud to have played a major role in the establishment of the 8th Air Force Museum, a testament to her community involvement and passion for history.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel in Savannah, Georgia, on Friday, September 18th, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral service honoring Wilma's remarkable life will follow from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the same location.

Arrangements have been thoughtfully provided by Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel. Wilma's warmth and wisdom will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
