Mrs. Sandra Carpenter Jay, age 83, of Hoschton, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
Mrs. Jay was born on April 29, 1942, in Asheville, North Carolina to the late George Emree Carpenter and the late Dora Piercy Carpenter.
Mrs. Jay worked for St. Joseph’s/Candler hospital as a Cytotechnologist in Savannah, Georgia where she lived from 1980 until 2011. She received Bachelor and Master degrees in the field of Science. She loved to sing hymns, read and genealogy as well as sewing. Sandy was lively and intelligent with a beautiful smile and congenial personality which made her numerous friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Edward Jay; her third husband, Gordon Dillingham; her brother, Gerald Carpenter; and her sister, Debbie Carpenter.
Survivors include her brother, George and Kathleen Carpenter; her son and his wife, Richard and Deborah Young, Sr. of Hoschton, Georgia; her grandson, Richard Young, Jr. of Hoschton, Georgia; her granddaughter and husband, Caleb and Bethany Barton of Auburn, Georgia; stepdaughter, Cheryl Jay of Savannah, Georgia; and stepson and wife, Mr. Douglas and Laura Jay, of Atlanta, Georgia.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
