Mrs. Ruth Alta Parkinson, age 86, of Savannah passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Mrs. Parkinson was born on January 13, 1939 in Salem, Ohio to the late Walter William Messersmith and the late Effie Marie Messersmith. Prior to retiring, she worked as a librarian assistant at Benedictine Military School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles David Parkinson; brothers, William Messersmith & Joseph Messersmith; and sister, Shirley Beilhart.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law. Kimberly & Jeff Brantley and Anne-Liesse & Jerry Ankeny; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher & Teresa Parkinson; grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Lynch (Nate), Jessica Whitehead (Dexter), Joseph Heilman (Angela), Sarah Ankeny, Gerry Parkinson, Charlie Parkinson, and Jackson Parkinson; and great grandchildren, Camilla Heilman and Atlas Heilman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
