Ronald Alexander Petway, lovingly known as Ron, was born on August 15, 1939, and passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026.

Ron was a US Navy Veteran, he lived for many years in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where he worked for General Motors until his retirement; while in Stone Mountain he also owned a shop called Country Manor Antiques. After retiring, Ron and his beloved wife, Bonnie Howell Petway, made their home in Savannah, Georgia, where they enjoyed their retirement years together.

Ron was a hardworking man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, working in his yard, and tending to his flowers. His garden was more than something he cared for; it was a way for him to share love with those around him. Ron often gave flowers from his garden to friends and neighbors, planting seeds of kindness, friendship, and love that will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew him.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Howell Petway; their daughter, Traci Petway Young, and her husband, Brett Young; and three grandchildren: Brandon and his wife, Ashanti, of Savannah; Blake King of Jacksonville, Florida; and Hannah Young of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his only sibling, Sheila Petaway Johnson, and her husband, Steve Swimms, of Atlanta, as well as his niece, Dr. Daun Lai, and her husband, Dr. Tristan Lai.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hedy Hampton; his father, Walter Petaway; and his beloved grandmother, Lavonia Hampton, known affectionately as Grammy.

Ron will be remembered as a hardworking and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His love of fishing, his beautiful flowers, and especially his generosity toward others will remain cherished memories for all who knew him.

Though he is deeply missed, the seeds of love Ron planted throughout his life will continue to grow in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
