Mr. Romie Edenfield, age 81 of Savannah, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Hospice Savannah after an extended illness. Romie was born on April 4, 1944 in Savannah to Romus Clayton Edenfield Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Stephens Edenfield and lived in Savannah all his life. He was a 1962 graduate of Groves High School, and later retired from Dixie Crystal Sugar Refinery as a foreman. Romie was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed woodworking, he built six rooms on to his house as well as, numerous pieces of furniture. He and his wife loved traveling including spending the night in the Amazon Rain Forest. His favorite past time was spending time with his family, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Romie was a true gentleman, always looking out for his wife, loved to help others and had a great work ethic. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Joey E. Cuervo; and a brother, James Burl Edenfield.
His family includes his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Ann Exley Edenfield of Savannah; his four children, Robert Clayton Edenfield and his wife Chree of Savannah, Annette Eisenhauer and her husband Lee of the Virgin Islands, Romus Clayton Edenfield, III and his wife Keri of Orlando, Florida, and Col. Chris Edenfield and his wife Cheryl of Germany; nine grandchildren, Clayton Edenfield and his wife Ashton, David Edenfield, Mary Elizabeth Edenfield, Ashley Smith, Chad Whitis and his wife Nicole, Romus Clayton Edenfield, IV, Griffin Edenfield, Colin Edenfield and Cecilia Edenfield; four great-grandchildren, Vincent and Gregory Smith and Isabella and Joseph Whitis; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406 beginning at 5:00 pm until just prior to the service. The memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
