Robert Edgar Burks

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Edgar Burks, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who departed this world peacefully on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, at the age of 86. Robert was a resident of Rincon, Georgia, and was born on Saturday, May 6th, 1939, in the picturesque city of Roanoke, Virginia.

Robert took pride in having attended the esteemed Virginia Military Institute. His ties to the VMI Club remained strong throughout his life, maintaining friendships and sharing memories of days gone by.

He contributed to the manufacturing industry with dedication and skill through his long-term employment with Ralston Purina. Robert's hard work and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on both colleagues and peers.

Robert had a passion for life that included a deep love of golf, a never-ending enthusiasm for watching sports, and a special fondness for Westerns. He could often be found reminiscing and swinging his partner joyfully around the dance floor to the tunes of the 1950s.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne Burks, and cherished son, David Burks (Martha), both of Rincon, Georgia. His legacy continues through his two treasured grandchildren and his four siblings, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Robert was predeceased by his loving parents, Robert Paris Burks and Margaret Burks, whose memory remained with him throughout his life.

Family, friends, and those touched by Robert's warm spirit are invited to celebrate his life at a memorial service, which will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel in Garden City, Georgia, on Friday, January 16th, 2026, at 4:00 pm.
