Robert Berry Black

October 8, 1939 — March 30, 2024

Robert Berry Black, 84, of Pooler, GA, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

A native of Metter, Georgia, he was the son of the late Lester Black and Mary Berry Black.

Mr. Black was an avid NASCAR and OSP fan, attending all the races that he could. He also loved watching westerns any time that he he could be in front of the television. He enjoyed good southern cooking. Above all else, he was a faithful family man, loving and supportive father, and godly man, who prayed every single day that he was on the Earth. He always had advice to lend and a listening ear when needed. There was no hate in him, loving everyone that he came into contact with. He was a member of Dean Forest Baptist Church for many years, serving as Deacon and Sunday School teacher.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Cox Black and a son, William Robert Black.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Iler (Darrell), Laura Ann Taylor and Amanda Mincey (Chris); daughter-in-law, Sarah Black; grandchildren, Matt Black (Laurie), Sandra Thomas (Saji), Melissa Northup (John), Jessica Taylor (Jamie), Hanna Roy (Nathan), Dylan Mincey, Bethany Mincey and Ellie Mincey; great-grandchildren, Samuel Thomas, Drake Northup, Jacob Black, Joseph Thomas, Alissa Northup, Savanna Thomas and Kyleigh Black.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 6-8pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11am in the Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kenny Harrelson and Rev. Matt Black officiating. Burial will follow at 2pm at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or to the American Diabetic Association at www.diabetes.org .
