Robert "Bob" James Backus, 76, of Savannah, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at his home.
He was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina and lived most of his life in Savannah, he was the son of the late William Emery Backus and the late Mildred Elizabeth Bergsten Backus.
Bob was a graduate Herschel V. Jenkins High School and was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a Master Exterminator having worked for Johnson Exterminating Inc. and Johnson Construction.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Cindy Backus of Urbandale, Iowa, Rebecca Backus of Charleston, South Carolina, Angel and Shea Lee of Bloomingdale, Georgia; 3 granddaughters, Rachel Lee Wallin (Conor), Michelle Lee and Shannon Lee; sister, Shirley Melby; brother, Rick Backus; other family and many friends.
Graveside Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Greenwich Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia.
