My best friend, my college sweetheart, and my devoted husband of 44 years, Robert Joseph Armstrong, Jr. gained eternal peace on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Bob, who had survived childhood polio, lost his lengthy battle with heart issues at 78 years old. He was born to Margaret L. Killian Armstrong and Robert J. Armstrong of New Jersey. Bob has one sister Kaye Armstrong and her partner in life Tony Foresta of Florida. He is survived by his wife, Robin S. Armstrong and their two sons, Robert J. Armstrong III and Luke C. Armstrong, who mourn his loss.
Bob was a life-long sports fan. He participated in competitive swimming and high school football. He loved to watch his beloved Steelers play but most enjoyed sharing his boys' love of NASCAR, basketball, and soccer as often as possible.
Love of family and his sense of responsibility guided Bob's life's work. From his own business to restaurant management and sales until his retirement. Bob worked hard all of his life to take good care of his family.
Two local programs occupied much of his time until illness made it impossible. The Abilities Unlimited Inc. weightlifting program at the Anderson/Cohen Weightlifting Center and AMBUCS bowling program. Being a coach, chaperone, and volunteer for these worthy causes gave him great personal satisfaction. He loved interacting with the families and participants in these tremendous programs. In lieu of flowers, we suggest that you support one of these programs to honor his life.
My wonderful, loving husband was describe by family and friends as "good people" and a "great man." He was his oldest son's "buddy." His youngest son is the image of his father and shares many of his best qualities. Bob was extremely proud of his sons' accomplishments and the men they became.
Bob was taken from us suddenly and with the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, plans for a celebration of his life are not yet complete. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and support as we try our best to go on without him.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in "Bob's" name to the Abilities Unlimited of the Special Olympics Organization.
