It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard "Richie" Cuyler Jones Jr., a beloved resident of Garden City, Georgia. Born on January 16th, 1946, in Pulaski, Georgia, Richie passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2026, just shy of his 80th birthday.
A cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Richie is survived by his devoted children, son Jonathan Jones and his wife Stephanie, and daughter Kari Jones Scott and her husband Kenny. He was a proud grandfather to Abby, Julia, and Zachary, who brought immense joy to his life. Richie is also remembered by his siblings, Carolyn Staples, Mary and Doug Bowlsby, Harvey and Reba Jones, and Bernie Jones, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Richie was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol Fortner Jones, his parents, Richard Cuyler Jones Sr. and Jessie Pearl Dotson Jones, and siblings and in-laws Nina and Darby Dasher, Patricia and Rudy Coleman.
Richie proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he formed lifelong friendships and solidified his values of dedication and service. After his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a driver for Staples before retiring.
Richie had a passion for collecting coins, a hobby that connected him with enthusiasts from around the world. He was also an exceptional chili cook, proudly sharing his creations at community events and family gatherings.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Richie’s life on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Garden City Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Arrangements are being made by the Baker McCullough Funeral Home - Garden City Chapel. Richie’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported them during this difficult time.
Richie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to family will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
