Ralph Kenyon "Ken" Tyson, Jr., age 72 of Savannah, passed away at home on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with illness.
Ken was born on September 30, 1953 in Athens, Georgia to the late Ralph Kenyon Tyson, Sr., and the late Marjorie Lamb Tyson Myers.
Ken later moved to Statesboro, Georgia where he attended Statesboro High School graduating in 1972. This is when he met his high school sweetheart Joyce Marie Baker. Together they settled in Savannah, Georgia calling it their home in 1992. Ken worked in the finance industry and later retired from 1st Franklin Financial.
Ken led his life with a kind and loving heart. He was an industrious man, always working with his hands. There was never a need to call a repairman with him around, he kept everything running. If he wasn't tinkering away on something, you could find him laid back watching his favorite Westerns on TV. The loss of Ken will be felt immensely within his family and friends, with whom he enjoyed spending his days.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Joyce Baker Tyson, and his two brothers, Lawton F. Tyson of Texas and Phillip L. Tyson of Long County.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel in Savannah, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Humane Society of Greater Savannah.
