Paul Curtis Wicker

October 27, 1960 — October 7, 2023

Paul Curtis Wicker - husband, friend, brother, son, engineer, mentor, auto enthusiast and putterer - passed away peacefully 10/7/2023 with his loving wife Joy by his side. Paul was born Oct 27, 1960 to James Dallice (JD) and Helen Wicker in Frankfurt, Germany. At 3 months old the family moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Paul married Beverly Jean Billings in 1981 and began working at Inmos Corporation in Colorado Springs. In 1988 he and Bev moved to Fremont CA and Paul began his 33-year career with Cypress Semiconductor. Over the years Paul worked in the Product Engineering, Marketing, and Quality teams as an engineer, manager, and company leader. His career moved him between CA and CO several times allowing him to make close connections in both cities. Paul was instrumental in the success of the Cypress Philippines engineering and manufacturing site.

As a manager Paul cared deeply about the individuals on his teams, developing their talents and providing the support needed for success, while also pushing for corporate success, streamlining, integrity, and continuity. He was well respected by his teams and coworkers and retired August 2022.

Bev passed away in 2011 and Paul found a second chance at love with Joy Elizabeth Greenlee. The two married in a small ceremony in Hawaii and enjoyed 12 wonderful years together. Paul’s love of warm weather led them first to Austin TX for a year and then to Sarasota FL.

Paul loved all things new, especially cars and houses, and always had projects in the works. Subsequently, Paul often designed and built new homes and was on the lookout for the next new car/ toy. In 2023, after making their Sarasota home all they wanted it to be, Paul turned his attention to creating a new home, this time in Savannah, GA. It was during this design and building phase that Paul became ill with covid/pneumonia. After a brief battle he passed away peacefully in his home.

Paul was preceded in death by his first wife Beverly, his father JD and his father-in-law Merle. He leaves behind his wife Joy (Greenlee) Wicker, his siblings Paula (Frank) Spinner, Pam (Harold) Reed, Jim (Shirley) Wicker and Peggy (John) Dyer, mother Helen Wicker, mother-in-law Janet Peters, numerous cousins, his dearest friends Alex (Linda, Katy & Lexie) Herrera, John (Elaine) Silver, close friends and colleagues. He will be remembered always for his ever-creative mind, endless projects, generous mentoring and simple request for “Meat Cheese and Bun.” A private graveside ceremony will be held in Colorado Springs and a celebration of life will follow. Any thoughts, or sweet stories can be sent to Joy via e-mail at pcwicker@gmail.com .
