Myrna Taylor Strickland, age 86, of Savannah, while at home and surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2026.
Myrna was the firstborn daughter of Floyd and Gladys Taylor, born in Irwinton, GA, on March 18, 1939, and a proud sister to Judye and Lynette. On October 20, 1968, she married the love of her life, Gerald Strickland, beginning a devoted marriage of 46 years and family life rooted in faith and service. Together they raised two children in their lifetime family home in Majestic Oaks. She proudly retired from Georgia Regional after a 30+ year career, where she was known for her commitment and care.
Myrna’s greatest joy was her family. The light of her life was her children and granddaughters, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. A dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah, Myrna loved the Lord Jesus and faithfully served Him through her church. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choir and took great pride in raising her children at Calvary Day School. She used to tell her children, if the doors were open, they would be there!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; beloved daughter, Kellie; sister, Judye; and grandson, Baby Craig Smith III.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Strickland (Melinda); daughter, Ginger Smith (Craig Jr.); cherished granddaughters, Taylor, Samantha, and Abigail Smith, and Sutton Strickland; sister, Lynette Fulford (Wayne); sisters-in-law, Edna Strickland and Linda Tillinger; brothers-in-law, Tommy Covington and Eddie Lancaster; her very best friend, Becky Covington; and many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly.
A service celebrating Myrna’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Temple, 4625 Waters Avenue, Savannah, Georgia on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 12:00 noon. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Calvary Baptist Temple or Hospice Savannah.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful Nurses and CNAs at Hospice Savannah for the love, care, and support they provided over the past several months. Their compassionate servants’ hearts and humble dedication brought comfort and peace to both Myrna and her family.
