In Loving Memory of
Michael "Maggot Burger" Brown
June 1, 1968 – May 12, 2025
Michael "Maggot Burger" Brown passed away peacefully at his home in Savannah, Georgia, on May 12, 2025, at 2:57 a.m. He was 57 years old.
Born on June 1, 1968, Michael lived a bold, vibrant life full of character and connection. Over the years, he called Jacksonville, Florida; Little Five Points in Atlanta; and Savannah, Georgia home. His career was as eclectic as his personality—ranging from cook to courier, bartender to “bar stool professor.” But his greatest accomplishment was never tied to a job title—it was the community of friends and chosen family he built around him.
Michael was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend. He is survived by his mother, Faye Brown; siblings Jessie Brown, Tony Brown, and Charlotte Brown Madden; and his son, Vrixton Phillips. His absence leaves a hole in many hearts, but his memory lives on through the countless lives he touched.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor on May 31, 2025, at The Star Community Bar, 437 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, remember, and raise a glass to the man who brought so much laughter, love, and light to those around him.
“Long live the legend of Maggot Burger.”
