Melissa Lynn Medders Kniphfer, a cherished resident of Eden, GA, passed away on Thursday, October 30th, 2025, at the age of 60. Born in Savannah, GA, on Monday, February 22nd, 1965, she spent a lifetime weaving bonds of love and friendship that touched countless lives.
Melissa was a devoted homemaker, known for her warm heart and open arms. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping in the serene mountains of North Georgia. Her love for animals was widely recognized, and her infectious personality ensured that she never met a stranger. A member of the Meldrim Baptist Church, Melissa's faith was an integral part of her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband, K. Waring Kniphfer, with whom she shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. She leaves behind her cherished son, Christopher R. Doney (Amanda), along with her adored grandchildren, Gunnar, Madison, and Griffin Doney. Melissa is also survived by her sisters Sandra Gail Butler (Vince), Marty Hodges (Clint), Diane Davis, and Elaine Kniphfer (Eddie). She will be fondly remembered by her aunt, Geraldine Wendland, her many nieces and nephews, numerous other family members, and a vast array of friends. Her beloved dog, Little One, was a constant companion and source of joy in her life.
Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Quentine H. Medders and Lola Laverne Gassett Medders, who undoubtedly greeted her with open arms.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Melissa’s life will be held the following day, Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the same location, with Pastor Chad Eason officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel. Melissa's legacy of love, kindness, and steadfast faith will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but always remembered.
