Mary Rose Miller

May 19, 1938 — June 10, 2025

Savannah

Mrs. Mary Rose Brabender Miller, age 87, of Savannah, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Known to all affectionately as "Mamaw".

Ma-Maw was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the only one of her siblings born in a hospital, to Denis Brabender and Mary Bennett Thompson Brabender. She grew up in Dunoon, Scotland until she met her husband, who was in the United States Navy and moved to Norfolk, Virginia, then to Columbus, Ohio; before moving to Savannah in 2013. Mary never met a child that didn't call her Ma-Maw, she was a homemaker and a member of The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Ma-Maw was an avid walker, loved dogs, country music, and enjoying a hot cup of coffee and her favorite desserts, cheesecake and shortbreads. She especially loved her children and grandchildren, and she would always say that she was Clyde built, courageous, tenacious, and didn't put up with nonsense. Mary attended with her daughter Donna, the Daughters of Scotland Organization. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar G. Miller; her granddaughter, Heather Springs; her parents; and her siblings, Patrick Compson, Margaret Lenigar, Julia Brabender, Kathleen Brabender, and Janet Bradford.

Her family includes her children, Deborah Cunningham and her husband A.J. of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Mary Salyer and her husband Loren of Whitehall, Ohio, and Donna Sanders and her husband Robert of Savannah; her grandchildren, Rose Banner and her husband Jerry, Christopher, Amanda Kinnaman and her husband Joe, Katrina Webb and her husband David, Travis Salyer and his wife Mariah, Analysa Salyer and her husband Jordan, Mary, Glenda, and Julia; and several, great-grandchildren, god-children, and cherished friends.

Private family services will be held later.

Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
