Mary “Lynn” Durham, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a devoted servant of God, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 78.
Born on August 5, 1946, in Mt. Vernon, Georgia, Mary (affectionally known as Lynn to her family & friends) lived a life of compassion, faith, and service, touching the lives of many along the way.
Lynn's early years were spent in the small town of Mt. Vernon, where she developed a strong sense of community. She pursued her education at Brewton-Parker College earning an associate’s degree while continuing her education at Georgia Southern University, setting the stage for a life dedicated to helping others.
Lynn’s life of service was further exemplified during her time as an Associate Minister at the Abundant Life Church in Bangor, Maine, where she and her beloved husband, Rev. Ronald Eugene Durham, worked together to spread love, faith, and spiritual guidance. Their partnership was one of deep devotion and shared purpose.
Throughout her life, Lynn brought light and warmth to every community she called home. After living in Jacksonville, Florida, and Bangor, Maine, she and her family settled in Savannah, where she became an active and cherished member of The Cathedral Church of God (formerly Coastal Cathedral Church). There, she embraced the fellowship of the Pace Setters group and continued her lifelong mission of spreading God's love to others.
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ronald Eugene Durham; her father, Edward Richardson; and her mother, Luada Hughes Richardson. She is survived by her son, John Durham and daughter-in-law Theresa Durham; her grandchildren, Nathan Durham (and his fiancé Erika Fahy), Natalie Durham, Ben Durham, and Isaac Durham, who lovingly called her “Meme”; her brother, Carl “Bubba” Richardson; and her sister, Sue Jinks and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched with her kindness and grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Cathedral Church of God, continuing Mary’s mission of spreading love and faith to others.
A Memorial Service to honor Mary’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at The Cathedral Church of God in Savannah.
