Marie Glisson Gay, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30th, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on Friday, September 19th, 1952, in Savannah, Georgia, Marie was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Marie was the beloved wife of Wilton J. "Joey" Gay, Jr., her devoted husband of 50 years, affectionately known to her as "Wuv." Together, they built a life filled with love, joy, and shared memories. Marie is survived by her son, Shane Gay (Kristie Thompson), as well as her daughter, Miranda Punturi, and her husband Chris. Her loving family circle also includes her sister Judy Ann Glisson and her husband James E. "Ellis" Glisson, and her brother Richard C. Glisson (Janice LaToza). Marie was a doting aunt to her nieces and nephews, Amber Hook (Maurice), Amelia Roberts, Danielle Gay, Dwight Gay, and Andrew Gay.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Howell Cone Glisson and Beatrice Irene Etheredge Glisson. Her deep faith was nurtured within the community of the Savannah Holy Church of God, where she was an active lifelong member.
Marie had a passion for life that was evident in her many interests. She loved shopping and found joy in music and cooking, sharing these pleasures with family and friends. Her culinary skills and zest for life will remain a fond memory for those who knew her.
The family will receive friends during a visitation at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel in Garden City, Georgia, on Thursday, June 4th, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Following visitation, a funeral service to honor Marie's life will be held at 12:00 pm at the same location. She will be laid to rest at Westside Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bloomingdale, Georgia.
