Margaret Ann White

Mrs. Margaret Ann (Monroe) White, age 90, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2025,at her residence. She was born on February 5, 1935, in Tattnall County, Georgia, and was the only daughter of the late Preston and Estelle Monroe.

Margaret was raised as a sharecropper’s daughter, where she learned at an early age the values of responsibility, resilience, and hard work. Working alongside her parents in the fields to help provide for her family taught her the value of hard work and a perseverance she carried throughout her life.

After moving to Savannah, Margaret began a long and dedicated career with BellSouth as a telephone operator, where she faithfully served for 42 years before retiring. Never one to remain idle, she later began a second career with The Christmas Shop in downtown Savannah, where she worked for more than 19 years and formed many lasting friendships.

Margaret was a devoted member of Old Fellowship Baptist Church in Brooklet, Georgia, where she cherished many years of worship, fellowship, and friendship in celebration of the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Walter G. “Bobby” White, and her youngest daughter, Janna Michelle Bush.

Those left to cherish Margaret’s memory include her daughter, Denise White Loper; two granddaughters, Jessica Loper Skarda (Robert) and Victoria Hillis Bryarly (Matthew); and five great- grandchildren, Maggie, Annabelle, Hailey-Grace, James, and Josephine.

Graveside Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery at 5526 US Hwy 80, Brooklet, Georgia.
