Margaret Carter Moore was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on May 16, 1935, to Mary Strouse and James Walter Carter. Her parents brought her to Savannah at the age of five.

Mrs. Moore is predeceased by her husband of sixty-nine years, Barney I. Moore; sister-in-law, Peggy Moore; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.

Mrs. Moore was educated in local schools and graduated from Savannah High School in 1953. She married her husband five days after graduation.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Georgia Belles chapter of the Red Hat Society, and the Lunch Bunch.

She worked in the Savannah area at Rosen Brothers Wholesale/Retail and Chatham County Family and Children's Services. In the 1970's, at a time when women weren't typically working on surveying crews, Margaret worked with Barney in his business surveying in all parts of Chatham County.

She retired in 2005 after twenty-three years from Chatham County Voter Registration. She was member of Robert McIntire United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Edward Moore; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many dear friends, including her goddaughters, Sydney Lanier-Mingledorff and Diana Fischer; and devoted caregivers Lee Roberts, Josie Mincey, and Carolyn Mack.

Mrs. Moore leaves a message to her many friends :"Be yea kind to one another." She would like nothing more than for her friends to not cry for her, but to have a party to celebrate her life.
