Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Mary Anderson of Portal, Georgia, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Margaret, born in the charming city of Savannah, Georgia, on Wednesday, September 23, 1936, peacefully left this world on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at her residence in Portal, GA surrounded by her family.

Margaret's life was a tapestry of love, devotion, and unwavering faith. She retired from Grinnell after years of dedication, She cherished the simple joys of watching hummingbirds, tending to her plants, and cultivating her beloved garden. Yet, her deepest fulfillment came from the quiet moments spent reading her Bible each morning and night from her favorite chair, a testament to her profound spirituality and connection with God.

Margaret leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted spouse, Doyle Anderson; her cherished daughters: Anastasia Renee Lorden (Patrick), Roberta Graham (Bubba), and Patricia McBride of Statesboro, GA; her son, Ricky Ebeling; and her treasured grandchildren: Brandi McCullough, Shali Jacobson, George Barnes, Ashley Youmans, Kevin McBride, Chris Ebeling, Nathaniel Lorden, Abigail Wilkerson, and Victoria Hickman. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Ola Mae Crapse; a grandson, Rick Ebeling; and her siblings Johnny Crapse, Fred Crapse, and Lucille (Johnny) Dowd, nephew Stephen Dowd.

A service to honor Margaret's life and legacy will be held on Friday June 19, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Cornerstone Church in Statesboro.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow the service at Portal City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be George Barnes, Kevin McBride, Brian McCullough, Chris Ebeling, Phillip Wilkerson, Nathaniel Lorden.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cornerstone Church in Margaret's memory, an institution that was near and dear to her heart.

Arrangements are under the thoughtful care of Baker McCullough Funeral Home-Garden City Chapel. The family extends their deepest gratitude for your thoughts, prayers, and memorial contributions during this time of mourning. May Margaret Mary Anderson rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the heavenly garden she so dearly loved.
