Mr. Lum McDuffie Purvis, age 88, of Savannah passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Mr. Purvis was born on July 31, 1937 in Butler, Georgia to the late John Douglas Purvis and the late Mary Lizzie Gill Purvis. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Skidaway Methodist Church. Mr. Purvis retired from Ford Motor Credit Company after 41 years. Mr. Purvis joined the Exchange Club of Savannah in November 2005 where he served for 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gwendolyn Powell Purvis.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Michelle P. Weil and Kiley & Clint Hodges; six grandchildren: Torie (Hayden) Polk, Dustin (Haley) Weil, Tyler (Taylor) Weil, Heidi Hodges, Wynn Hodges, Polly Hodges; and seven great-grandchildren: Brinley Polk, Colton Polk, Paxton Polk, Blakely Weil, Fletcher Weil, Clayton Weil, Lee Weil
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).
Interment will follow in Greenwich Cemetery (330 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA 31404).
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Nancy N. and J.C Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion (225 Candler Drive, Savannah, GA 31405).
