Louis F. Wilson Jr., 92, was reunited with his soulmate in death on November 17, 2025. Born to Louis F. Wilson Sr. and Rose Isabelle Wilson on March 21, 1933 in Savannah, Georgia. Louis was raised in Savannah, he won the heart of Betty Roberts, his soulmate, by sliding his sister’s Avon samples down her books as he walked down the hallway at school because he was too afraid to speak to her. In October 1954, they married at Trinity United Methodist and were inseparable until Betty’s death in 2017. Louis was a Master Firefighter with the Savannah Fire Department for over 30 years serving all of that time at Fire Station Number 5 on Henry Street and when he wasn’t at the fire station he was at Oelschig Greenhouses as the on-call jack of all trades. He was a long-standing member and past deacon of First Baptist Church of Islands. He loved woodworking, hunting, cooking and spending time with his family. Preceded in death by his wife Betty Roberts Wilson, his parents, Louis Sr. and Rose Wilson, step-mother Harriette Wilson, siblings; Louise Saniford, Margaret Bishop, Geraldine Scott, Robert “Bobby” Wilson, Betty Hernandez, and Eleanor Smith, son in laws; Lester “Ray” Bryant and Joe Wrenn. Survived by son Ronald “Ronnie” Wilson (Kathy) of Savannah, Georgia; daughters Sherry Wrenn of Savannah, Georgia and Cynthia “Cindy” Bryant of Louisville, Georgia. Grandchildren, Amanda Jones (Shaun), Kristina Wrenn, Kyle Bryant (Charlie), and Kimberly “Kim” Barnes (Brad) and 9 great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2025 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406. Burial will follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
