Lawrence Franklin Birge, 72, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on February 25, 2026. Born on November 14, 1953, he was a lifelong Savannah resident who built his life around family, hard work, and the values he carried with quiet strength.
Larry shared 49 years of marriage with his wife, Kim. He loved being with her always and valued the life they built together. He was a proud father to his son, Jason, and a steady source of advice, perspective, and encouragement. His family was the foundation of his life, and he carried that role with pride and dedication.
One of five siblings, Larry cherished his brothers and sisters and held each of them equally close to his heart. He is survived by his brother, Paul Birge, and his sister, Karen Lange. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donny, and his sister, Linda Cantrell. The bond they shared as siblings remained an important and meaningful part of his life. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Robert Birge and Doris Birge. Larry is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, who will remember his steady presence and guidance.
Hard work defined much of Larry’s life. He began as a grocery store manager, later owned multiple businesses, worked in car sales alongside his father, spent years in retail management, and also worked as a food distributor. In every role, he believed in integrity, effort, and doing things the right way.
Outside of work, Larry embraced the things he enjoyed most. He had a fondness for his many vans over the years and often spoke of his 1972 Ford Torino, which he proudly owned in his younger days. He loved his dachshunds and enjoyed traveling out West, grateful to have experienced Yellowstone and Alaska. A proud Corvette owner more than once, he valued the friendships formed while driving with his local Corvette club.
Larry was a loyal sports fan, a devoted supporter of the Atlanta Braves, and he continued to hold out hope that he would one day see a Falcons Super Bowl victory.
Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose loyalty, work ethic, and steady guidance left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kim; his son, Jason; his brother, Paul Birge; his sister, Karen Lange; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
