Obituary

Larry Coley Saturday, 79, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully, May 11,2026, with family.

Larry was born on March 11, 1947 in Claxton, Georgia to Horace and Mary Saturday. He worked as a realtor for over forty years and was once a part owner of Coldwell Banker Realty. He was in the United States Army for over 26 years, and was a Special Forces Green Beret. He made over 350 jumps with the Special Forces Green Berets. He enjoyed the Shag Club and was a member for over thirty-five years. He was also very active in the Special Olympics, locally.

Larry loved anything outdoors, especially in the summer sun! He could spend the day at the beach with family, or hours poolside with a cocktail. He enjoyed fishing in Lake Dicky, and camping by an open fire. Larry was known for his gregarious personality and true-blue friendships. He was a loving and devoted father.

Larry graduated from Savannah High School in 1966 and attended college at Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Georgia. Larry and Gail went all over the world. He loved taking 12 Viking cruises with Gail, sailing through Indonesia, Europe, the Caribbean, and South America. He also enjoyed meeting friends at St Maarten every December. He was a very active member of the Grace Methodist Church his whole life, and enjoyed working with the men of the church and especially enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He also enjoyed karaoke, singing Elvis quite well.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Fawcett; his daughter, Jennifer Saturday Long; and his son, Larry Cole Saturday. He leaves behind six grand-children and two great grand-children. He was a rock-solid step-father to Patrick and Shelly Brown, Bradley Johnston, and Jennifer Steinhauser. He was especially close to his baby sister, Renee Smith. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jackie Turner, Jimmy Saturday, and Joey Saturday.

A military funeral will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church of Savannah.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

His “buddies”, the Green Berets from the 11th Special Forces Group, will be honorary pallbearers.
