Kevin Fleming Smith, 64, of Savannah developed pneumonia on the very last day of his month-long trip through Europe with his dear friend, Kent Heaton, and unexpectedly passed away on September 9, 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Born on Friday, October 13, 1961, in Savannah, Kevin started his journey on the waters of Isle of Hope where he confidently learned to back up a boat trailer by the age of 12 so he could deliver his weekly cooked blue crab orders to his growing list of customers. He had a great passion for the outdoors and was a huge animal lover, especially wild-life. Kevin graduated from Jenkins High School in 1979, he was an avid GA Bulldog fan and attended UGA during the infamous Herschel years, where he earned his Bachelors and Masters of Science in Finance. He easily passed the CPA exam on his first attempt while attending Georgia State. Kevin enjoyed many years in the world of finance and retired in 2023 with Cleland Site Prep.

He was preceded in death by his father, William James Smith; his stepfather, Anderson Giles; and his brother-in-law, Tommy Jones. 

He is survived by his wife, Christann Jones Smith; his mother, Carolyn Dutton Giles; brother, Brian (Patsi); aunt, Mary D. Higgs; his sister-in-law, Kay Jones Wall; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many other grieving loved-ones.

A Celebration of Life and inurnment will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church followed by a reception in the Parish Hall at the Church (2 St. Thomas Avenue, Savannah, GA 31406).
