Kenneth “Ken” M. White, Jr., 86, passed to his eternal life on February 12, 2024 at his home in Eufaula, Alabama. His spirit was strong, but his heart was way too weak. He was dearly loved by many people, friends and family. He was a Godly man of wit, compassion for others, but mostly a man of prayer.
Ken was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1937 to Kenneth Mervin White, Sr. and Julia Tkash. Ken had many jobs throughout his life, but his favorite was while he served in the U.S. Army from 1958 through 1964 as a cook. After his honorable discharge in 1964, he worked as a cook at a hospital in Orlando, Florida. Upon moving to Savannah, Georgia, Ken became a groundskeeper at the Hunter Army Airfield base. A year later he began working at American Cyanamid (Kemira). Later in his life he became a courier for Smith-Kline Laboratories (Quest).
On November 24, 1973, Ken married Dorothy Ann McNear (deceased). He attended Southside Assembly of God in Savannah, Georgia; First Assembly of God in Savannah, Georgia and Coastal Cathedral Church in Savannah, Georgia. He also attended the Believer’s Church in Statesboro, Georgia.
Ken is survived by his children: Donna Lynn Asbury (Stephen) of Eufaula, Alabama; Dawn Marie Carter of Savannah Georgia; and Robert (Bobby) Sullivan (Sheryl) of Nova Scotia, Canada. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rebekah Oliver, Rachel Bukowski, Timothy Carter, Taylor Jackson, Chase Jackson, Hannah Smith, Ryan Sullivan, Denny Sullivan, Micah Sullivan, Cody Sullivan, Destiny Eichenberger and Anna Asbury. He has 7 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
He will be incredibly missed by his entire family.
His family will receive visitors at the First Assembly of God, 1901 Pennsylvania Avenue, Savannah, Georgia on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Internment will be at Hillcrest Abbey East.
