Savannah

Kay Frances Stevens Lloyd, age 85, of Savannah, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, under the care of Hospice Savannah, surrounded by her family.

Kay was born on August 20, 1940, in London, England, to the late Frederick George Stevens and the late Lillian Catherine Eglinton Stevens. She married Michael Henry Lloyd in 1960, and the couple moved to Canada before eventually settling in the United States. In 1969, the family moved to Tarboro, North Carolina, where Kay continued her education, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She went on to obtain her master’s degree in psychology from East Carolina University and subsequently served in the Department of Social Services as a disability advocate and counselor.

An avid reader, Kay was drawn to period pieces and stories of strong, courageous women, whose resilience and grace reflected the values she lived by. In the spring and summer, she could be found tending her garden, nurturing life with the same care and devotion she gave to those she loved. In 2001, after bravely surviving breast cancer and documenting her journey in a detailed journal, Kay turned her experience into her first book, Cancer with Attitude: One Woman’s Journey Through Breast Cancer, which has offered hope and guidance to countless women facing similar challenges. She shared her story in seminars and hospital group sessions and gave generously of her time volunteering to read to young children at local schools, often bringing her beloved dog, Blondie, to pet and cuddle.

Kay’s greatest joy was her family. She loved traveling to visit her grandchildren, watching them play sports, exploring theme parks, zoos, and aquariums, or simply enjoying board games and pizza together. Her warmth, generosity, and steadfast spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate to know her.

Mrs. Lloyd was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Michael Henry Lloyd, and her cherished son-in-law, John Richard Faulkner, Jr., whom she loved as a son. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kay Lloyd Faulkner; her son, Rear Admiral (Ret) Jason Lloyd (Dulcey); her grandchildren, Rebecah Mosier (Cody), John Richard Faulkner III, Michael Lloyd Faulkner (Jordan), Christopher Lloyd (Allison), and James Lloyd; and her great-grandchildren, Ace, Alainnah, Colt, and Luxlynn.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah at hospicesavannah.org or Nancy N. & J.C. Lewis Cancer Center and Research Pavilion at sjchs.org/cancer.
