Katherine Geraldine Bowen Griffin, a beloved resident of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25th, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on Saturday, September 14th, 1946, in Galion, Ohio, Katherine lived a life full of love, dedication, and faith.
A retired secretary with the Savannah Chatham County Board of Education, Kathy was admired by colleagues and friends alike for her kindness and commitment. Her professional life was defined by her meticulous work ethic and her genuine care for the people she worked with.
Kathy was a woman of strong Christian faith, and her life was a testament to her beliefs. A member of the Westside Christian Church in Bloomingdale, she found solace and community among those who shared her values. Her faith was the backbone of her life, providing strength and guidance through many of life's challenges.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bobby Eugene Griffin; her dear children, Tami Lea Vickery, Michael Wayne McCoy, and Tim Michael McCoy Jr.; and her cherished parents, Cloyd Bowen and Norma White Bowen.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Belinda Sue Oglesby, and her husband Redgie; her step-daughter, Kristy Griffin; her step-sons, Bobby "Grif" Griffin Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Tim Griffin and his wife Brooke. Katherine also leaves behind several beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends who will remember her warmth and grace.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate Katherine's life and legacy on Sunday, January 11th, 2026. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 pm, both at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Garden City Chapel in Garden City, Georgia.
Arrangements are being handled by Baker McCullough Funeral Home-Garden City Chapel. Kathy's family would like to thank everyone for their expressions of love and support during this difficult time. Her enduring spirit will remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
