Mrs. Karen Johnson Moore, age 66, of Savannah, passed away peacefully and went to be with Jesus, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. She was born on October 31, 1959, in Millen, Georgia, to the late Ben Johnson and Rose Clark Johnson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie; and her brothers, Paul and Benny Johnson. Karen is survived by her husband of 46 years, Zeno Franklin Moore Jr.; her daughters, Natalie Rose Hoffer(Aaron) and Meredith Genelle Vinton(Justin); and her four beloved grandchildren: Zeno and Annagayle Hoffer and Elijah and Jaice Vinton. She is also survived by her sisters, Marcia Newton (John) and Lisa Bauldree (Rick) as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly.
Karen grew up in Garfield/Twin City, Ga. She was a proud graduate of ECI in Twin City, Georgia and attended Georgia Southern College. She had lived in Savannah and in Effingham County for the past several decades.
Karen was a veteran cosmetologist & hairdresser. She served for many years at Savannah Commons Retirement Home. It was her great joy to serve both the ladies and the men of that community. She had many deep and lasting friendships with her “customers” there. Caring for and serving others was truly her most special gift.
Church was always important to Karen. She attended Mt. Olivet Baptist in Garfield, and later in Savannah, she was a long-time member and choir member at Coastal Cathedral Church of God and years later at The Sanctuary of Savannah. She was also a founding partner in the establishment of Local Church in Savannah.
Karen was a dedicated, supportive, loving wife and mother. She loved family and could never have too much time with her girls, her mom, her sisters and all the nieces/ nephews and in-laws. Her devotion knew no limits as a mother and her role as “Mamm” to her grandchildren inspired and thrilled her beyond measure. In her later years as she fought compromised health, she found immense happiness, motivation, and energy from her four special grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406) with visitation to be held at 12:00PM. Interment will follow in Greenwich Cemetery (330 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA 31404).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah (1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).
