Karen Harris passed away on April 14, 2026, at MUSC in Charleston, SC, surrounded by love, peace and joy. Born April 17, 1959, Karen made her home in Savannah, Georgia with her husband, Jeffrey Harris.
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker of 31 years, Karen was deeply passionate about helping others—especially with their mental health. She had a rare gift for listening and validating people’s feelings, and she thrived in her work because of that empathy and care. She was a great mentor and inspiration. Karen truly was one of a kind.
Karen loved the beach and baseball—she was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. She shone bright and loved fiercely; anyone who knew her would say it was a privilege to have her in their life. She was quick witted, and had a great sense of humor with a contagious laugh that always brought smiles.
A memorial will be held in Indiana at a later date. Karen is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; her children, Gabriel (Kelly) Morrow of North Carolina, Brooke (Josh) Hall of Indiana, Eric (Amanda) Jamison of Indiana; her 11 grandchildren, Nolan (Jaclynne), Aubrey (Chris), Kourtney, Basey, Annabelle, Joshua, Rooney, Amelia, Harlem, Serenity, and Zoe; and Katie Johnson of Indiana who was like a daughter to her; her siblings, Keith (Barb) Anderson, Kay Anderson, Robin (Marvin) Shipp, Joni Haymaker, Billy Haymaker, Bobby Haymaker, Samuel (MaryAnn) Haymaker; her loving nieces and nephews; her father, William (Ann) Haymaker.
