Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Julia Elaine Joyner, of Ellabell, GA, who left for her heavenly abode on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on a crisp autumn Friday in 1948, Julia embraced life with an enduring spirit and unmatched passion. She devoted her life to family, friends, and the community, bringing joy and warmth to everyone she met.

Julia is survived by her loving sons, George Anthony Joyner (Wendy), Albert James Joyner, and Christopher Tillman Joyner (Lesley). Her legacy lives on in her cherished grandchildren: Casey Rogers, Hayden Joyner, Courtney Turner, Tony Roberts, Albert Joyner Jr., Dylan Robinson, Dalton Joyner, Cassidy Kile, Paige Weyhrauch, Morgan Clements, Hailey Adams, Garrett Roberts, and Julia Dews. Julia was also blessed with 29 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her dear sister, Peggy Ward, continues to share the family bond that knows no bounds.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Walter Joyner, her parents, Paul and Nikie Adams, her son, George Walter Joyner Jr., and cherished grandchild, George Anthony Joyner Jr. and a brother Benny Adams.

Julia’s life was enriched by her vibrant interests and talents. A Master Gardener, she nurtured life with a green thumb and artist's heart. She could lose herself in the timeless allure of black and white movies, always with a coffee close by. Her culinary skills were a treasure to her family, cooking from the recipes of ancestors that never failed to warm the soul. She had an affinity for exotic birds and took joy in her role as an avid homemaker and had a love for antiques.

Her professional life saw her managing multiple renowned restaurants, including Carey Hilliard's and Clyde Bruner Restaurants. Moreover, her empathetic nature led her to offer a helping hand to those less fortunate, believing in the power of a meal or story shared.

The matriarch of her family, Julia was affectionately known as the "Queen Bee," a title she wore with pride and, indeed, earned with her unyielding commitment to her loved ones.

A service to honor and celebrate Julia’s life will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Baker McCullough Funeral Home - Garden City Chapel. Julia will lie in state one hour prior to the service, offering friends and family an intimate moment to pay their respects.

Julia Elaine Joyner’s presence will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all those fortunate enough to have known her. Rest in peace, dear Julia; your journey continues eternally in our hearts.
