Obituary

Judy Melinda (Von Waldner) Sapp, 76, of Savannah Georgia, passed peacefully surrounded by her family Friday afternoon, August 28th, 2026.

Born in Macon, Georgia, to William Von Walder and Martha Davis Von Waldner on April 19th 1950, she would live there for a few short years before moving to Savannah with her parents and older brother. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. James Catholic school and later went to St. Vincents Academy and finished out her high school career at H.V. Jenkins High. At the age of 17, she met the love of her life, Kary; and at the beautiful age of 19, they were wed on December 21st, 1969. In the span of 59 years together, they grew their beautiful family, made a house a warm home, and had been by each other’s sides until the day she passed. Their love story was something you only read about in fairy tales.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings. She was the only remaining family member.

Surviving is her loving and devoted husband, Frank Kary Sapp, Savannah Georgia; daughter, Julie (the late Brian) Hadden, Guyton, Georgia; son, Bobby (Lauren) Sapp, Townsend, Georgia; and daughter, Katie (Ray) Kobliski, Savannah, Georgia. Along with seven grandchildren and soon to be two great grandchildren; her two sisters in law, Mary Jane Sury (Andy) and Connie Von Waldner; her aunt, Patsy T. Davis; and a slew of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406).

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Our family would also like to extend a special thank you for the amazing care received by Hospice of Savannah. Kristin, Jenni, Kim, Cate, and Beth, and many others from Hospice; sending you all our deepest thanks, we are forever grateful for all of the support, love and care you gave our family.
