Joseph Byron Hill, affectionately known to his family and friends as Byron, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, at the age of 61. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, on Wednesday, July 21st, 1965, Byron cherished the simpler things in life and appreciated the relationships he had. He was dedicated to being a good son, father, grandfather, husband, and friend by doing what he could to make the people around him happy.
Byron resided in Collins, Georgia, where he was a beloved member of the community. He was a skilled pipefitter and plumber, contributing his talents through his work with Local Union 188. Byron’s dedication to his craft, his family, and his faith was unmatched.
A member of the Bible Baptist Church, Byron found joy in simple pleasures, particularly playing softball, supporting the Georgia Bulldogs, and enjoying time at the shooting range or just in the back yard. A true music lover, he found his greatest happiness in moments spent with family, sharing in their laughter and love. He also truly enjoyed watching his family succeed, believing that anyone he loved could accomplish anything they attempted by simply believing in themselves and putting in the work. He was honored to be a “Hill” and carried that family name with pride.
He is survived by his loving wife of five years, Michelle Jeffers Hill, and his children: Nelson Hill and his wife Lindsay; Tucker and Jackson Bogue; and RJ, Justin, and Bradley Williams. He was a proud grandfather to Kaydence, Ava, and Delilah. Byron’s legacy of love also lives on through his parents, Melba and Joseph W. Hill, his brother Cary Hill, wife Connie, and his nieces Elise and Alayna. Along with a wide circle of extended family and friends.
