Adam, born John Adam Ragsdale, passed away on August 7th, 2025, at the age of 53, at his home in Savannah, Georgia, after a long struggle with his health that he fought with all he had. Adam was born on August 10th, 1971, at Moody Air Force Base Hospital in Valdosta, Georgia, to Mary Chappell Ragsdale and Bernard G. Ragsdale, Jr. Adam was the youngest of three children and loved his older sisters, Ashley and Shannon, dearly. Adam graduated from the University of Georgia in 1994 with a degree in Landscape Architecture.
Upon graduation and completion of the ROTC program at UGA, Adam was commissioned as an officer in the US Army, serving in the First Cavalry Division. He honorably served for 5 years, during which time he was stationed abroad in Germany and was deployed to Bosnia to serve in the joint UN Peacekeeping Mission, SFOR. After being honorably discharged from his service to his country, Adam began to build a career in Landscape Architecture and a family whom he loved with all his might. Adam enjoyed many hobbies and interests, not the least of which was watching the Star Wars films. Above all, he loved being outdoors, working in the yard and garden, and keeping a chicken coop with his daughters. All of his life, he enjoyed being on the water and fishing whenever possible. Later, he kept a saltwater fish tank with many beautiful animals, including a sea urchin he named Sauron. Adam had a vibrant personality and could light up a room. He leaves behind many dear friends and family who will remember him fondly.
Adam's faith was strong. He was a member of Christ Church Anglican and loved his God and community. His family has no doubt that he is sitting with his Heavenly Father and looking down on his daughters. He will be loved and missed dearly. Adam is survived by his daughters Isabella Ann “Belle”, Addison Jane “Addie Bear”, Lillian Elizabeth “Lillibeth”, and Vivian Hollowell “Vivi”, all of Savannah, GA, as well as his mother Mary Chappell Ragsdale of Beaufort, SC, his sister Ashley Colvin of Wauconda, IL, and his sister Shannon Ross of Moraga, CA. Adam’s girls were his everything. He was immensely proud of them all and loved them more than anything. They love and miss him just as much as he misses them.
