John Kerves, Jr. passed away June 4, 2025 after a short illness.
He was born February 19,1937 in Savannah, Georgia. He was a 1954 graduate of Savannah High, attended Armstrong College, and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1961. He was also a member of the Georgia Air National Guard.
A lifelong Gamecock, through thick and thin, he raised his family in Columbia, South Carolina and had his children at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturdays to cheer on the garnet and black. Retiring back to Savannah after a long career in pharmaceutical sales, he became a Georgia Southern fan, where his children attended college. He was a huge fan of college football spending his Saturdays watching games and his Sundays talking about them with family and friends. He and his wife were so proud of their grandchildren, were instrumental in their lives, and were always present during their childhood. They are the true legacy of his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Captain John Kerves, Sr. and Anastasia Borissova Kerves; his sister, Florence Kerves Nesbit; his niece, Pamela Claire Nesbit-Ferris; and his wife, Nancy Margaret Edenfield Kerves.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Brian) Dart; his son, John Nicholas Kerves; and his four grandchildren, Jackson Thurman Dart, Brian Hadden Dart, Olivia McCall Dart, and Isabella Riis Kerves.
Services will be private.
