John Martin Dailey

October 19, 1940 — July 15, 2025

Savannah

Mr. John Martin Dailey, age 84, of Savannah, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Martin lived a life full of hard work, dedication, and love for his family and friends.

Martin was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Dailey, his mother Gladys Mae Rahn Dailey and all eight of his siblings and their spouses.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara D. Dailey; his children, son Scott Dailey (Michelle), daughter Larkin Pangburn (Greg), and grandson Wyatt Pangburn.

A proud Marine Reservist in his early years, Martin had a long career as a Health Inspector, a job he truly loved. Deeply respected by his colleagues, they referred to him early on as "John" and he never bothered to correct them. To family and friends, he was always Martin. He never played by the rules of political correctness. Known for his snarky sense of humor and unapologetically blunt opinions, he always said exactly what was on his mind.

While Martin was not one for sentimental gestures, his dependability and willingness to lend a hand were the true expressions of his love. If you needed help—or a good dose of sarcasm—he was always there. His family and friends knew they could count on him without question.

A man of many simple pleasures, Martin took immense pride in his yard. He loved ensuring everything was manicured and just right. Neighbors and friends often commented about seeing him outside, working away. And if you needed anything, you could be fairly certain that’s where you might find him.

Martin chose to be cremated and requested a private farewell. The family is honoring those wishes. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
