Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Annette Bennett, who departed this life on Monday, October 5th, 2026, in Savannah, GA. Joan was born on November 15th, 1938, in Bulloch County Georgia, and throughout her 87 years, she touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness and wisdom.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry E. Bennett Sr., her parents, James Simon Bennett and Dahlia Bennett, brother James E. Bennett, her cherished daughter, Teresa Annette Smith, her son, Jerry "Bo" Bennett Jr and great-granddaughter Tenly Childers. 

Joan is survived by her loving grandchildren, Amy Childers (Jeff), Ali Reagan (Rob), and Kyle Cudebec (Elizabeth), who adored her dearly. She leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren, Ayden Childers, Talen Childers, Haysten Childers, Logan Parker, Emily Cudebec, and Kolton Cudebec, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Joan had a fulfilling career as an accountant. Her dedication and work ethic were widely known and respected by her colleagues and clients alike.

A visitation to celebrate Joan's life will be held on Thursday, October 8th, 2026, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel, located at 2794 US Highway 80 West, Garden City, GA 31408. Joan's burial will be a private ceremony, as per her wishes.

While Joan's passing leaves a void, we find solace in the legacy she leaves behind and the love that will continue to grow in the family she cherished. As we say goodbye, we remember her warmth, her laughter, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
