Jerry Michael Hadden, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6th, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on March 21st, 1952, in Savannah, Georgia, Jerry lived a full and vibrant life, deeply rooted in his hometown until his passing.
Jerry was a dedicated public servant, retiring as a Mail Sorter from the US Postal Service after a long and commendable career. Proud of his country, Jerry was a distinguished veteran, having served in both the US Navy and the US Army, where he honorably retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. His dedication to service extended to his involvement with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he fostered camaraderie and support among fellow veterans.
Jerry found joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing time spent outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a master of many card games, often gathering friends and family for friendly matches. Above all, his greatest joy was found in the moments shared with his cherished family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 48 years, Karen Ann Hadden, his children Michelle Taylor, Joshua Hadden and his wife Ashlee, Ashley Wilfur and her husband David, and Zach Hadden. His legacy lives on through his treasured grandchildren: Logan Strickland, Grant Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Dayton Hadden, Hendrix Hadden, Rockland Hadden, Zoey Hadden, Luke Wilfur, and Lily Wilfur. Jerry is also survived by his dear sister, Janelle Norton, his niece, Amy Norton Jacobs, and his nephew, Chad Hadden, along with numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Tom Hadden Jr. and Mary Cluese Thigpen Hadden, and his brother, Tommy D. Hadden.
Funeral services to honor Jerry's life will be held at Silk Hope Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia, on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation prior to the service at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following the service, Jerry will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
