Jeanne Windsor Hoyt Lawhorne of Savannah died quietly at home on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Born November 5, 1928, in Lynchburg, Virginia she was a daughter of the late Herbert Eugene Hoyt and Lucille Agee Gilliam Hoyt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Rudolph Lawhorne; daughter, Diane Windsor Lawhorne, and one sister, Nancilee Hoyt Jones.
Jeanne was employed with Fidelity National Bank before moving to Savannah in 1970. At that time she became an employee of Liberty National Bank, later known as Trust Company Bank, retiring as a secretary after twenty-three years. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Lynchburg, Virginia, First Baptist Church of Savannah, and more recently, Skidaway Island Methodist Church. She served as a teacher, deaconess, and on various committees in her churches. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, and most of all, being a wife to her beloved husband of 66 years and a mom to her four children.
Surviving are her two sons, Stephen Earl Lawhorne and wife, Christine, of Fawn Grove, PA; Gregory Eugene Lawhorne and wife, Dianne, of Savannah; one daughter, Suzanne Lawhorne Yaskow, of Savannah; three grandchildren, Eric Lee McNeely, of Savannah; Elizabeth Lawhorne Brook and husband Steven, of Smyrna, GA; Jason Andrew Lawhorne and wife, Caroline, of Severna Park, MD; one great-grandson, Tyler Lawhorne; twin great-granddaughters, Abigail and Natalie Lawhorne, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service is planned for a later date
