Jean Pearl Arnold, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. Born on August 19, 1933 in Jacksonville, Florida, she was the beloved daughter of Martin and Esta Pearl.
Jean graduated from the University of Florida and, in 1955, married the love of her life, James Frederick Arnold, Sr. In 1962, they made their home in Savannah, Georgia, where they built a life centered around family, faith, and community.
For many years, Jean worked as a dedicated medical transcriptionist for Dr. Jules Victor. Beyond her professional life, she gave generously of her time as a volunteer with St. Francis Cabrini Church, the Girl Scouts, her children’s schools, the Elk’s Auxiliary, and the Wilshire Association. She found great joy in serving others and was a steady, caring presence in her community.
Jean had a passion for life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid bridge player, and a talented wedding cake maker, creating beautiful cakes that became part of many cherished celebrations. She loved sewing and was an accomplished seamstress. Her creations included bridesmaid dresses, reupholstered furniture, her children’s clothes, and even a wedding dress once. She also loved to travel, enjoying memorable trips with family and friends throughout the United States and to Europe. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and warmth touched generations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Frederick Arnold, Sr.; her sister Nancy Marie Horvath; and her great-granddaughter, Kayla Skye McKinnon.
Jean is survived by her loving children: Cindy McKinnon (John), Karen Woods, Linda Paulus, and Jimbo Arnold (Lisa). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Tyler McKinnon (Brooke), Jared McKinnon (Emilie), Brett McKinnon (Chelsea), Taylor Blackburn, Carter Blackburn, David Abbott (Riviera), Anna Paulus, Ashley Bocaniciu (Chris), Katlyn Chester (Brandon), Renee Barry (Kenny), and Michelle Havens (Austin). Her grandchildren blessed her with 14 great-grandchildren, with another eagerly awaited.
Jean will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the strong family she nurtured.
Rosary will begin at 5pm with visitation continuing until 7pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA.
