James Irvin Cockfield, Jr. passed away May 21, 2026 at memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

He was born in Savannah, Ga son of the late James Irvin Cockfield and Mary Reeves Cockfield.

James served his country in the United States Navy for six years. He enjoyed music, liked to dance, and had a passion for discovering new things. Jim worked with AT&T and Sprint. He received an award from Sprint for his knowledge in telecommunications which took him to Hong Kong to train a company’s employees in voicemail and other telephone issues.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Irvin Cockfield and Mary Reeves Cockfield.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Linn Cockfield; siblings, Sherry Cockfield Bisbee (Robert) and Harry Cockfield; and niece, Crystal Bisbee Dean (Alexander).

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).

Interment will follow in Beaufort National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
