Jacob Preston Shoemaker, born in Toledo, Ohio, on February 1, 1984, left this Earth to join his Heavenly Father on November 13, 2025.
Jake lived with a depth of heart, loyalty, and sincerity that made him unforgettable. He was a man who loved fully, worked tirelessly, and carried a quiet strength that lifted everyone around him.
Jake’s greatest joy in life was his children and the family he built. He loved with devotion that was steady, protective, and unwavering. He found meaning in being present — in the small moments, the simple routines, and the ways he made life feel safe and grounded. He loved us fiercely, and that love shaped every part of his world.
Professionally, Jake was gifted in a way few people ever are. In the roofing industry, he was known for his skill, precision, and commitment to doing things the right way. He spent many years building a respected career in Florida, earning admiration from crews, colleagues, and clients who saw not only his craftsmanship but also the pride and leadership he carried onto every job site. He was naturally talented — the kind of man who could learn anything, fix anything, and build anything he set his mind to.
In recent years, Jake poured himself into expanding the business in both Florida and Georgia. With his fiancée, Annie, he stepped into new projects and possibilities, and he approached every challenge with the same determination and excellence that defined him. So much of what they built carries his hands, his vision, and his unmistakable strength.
Beyond his accomplishments, Jake was a deeply genuine soul. He was loyal, protective, and soft-hearted beneath his quiet exterior. He cared about people — truly cared — about their struggles, their comfort, and their wellbeing. He helped without needing recognition, showed up when he was needed, and felt everything with a depth that made him who he was. Being near him made people feel safe.
For those who truly knew him, Jake was one of a kind — a man of extraordinary character, rare talent, and unshakable love. He worked hard, he loved deeply, and he lived in a way that left an imprint on every heart he touched.
Jake’s life was a gift. Though he is no longer with us, his love, his strength, and the example he set will carry forward in every life, every project, and every memory touched by his presence. He will be remembered not for the way he left this world, but for the way he lived — with dedication, devotion, and an open, honest heart.
Jake is survived by his fiancée, Christina (Annie); his children, Julian (21), Shona (21), and Joseph (9); parents, James (Joan) Shoemaker and Luanne Shoemaker; siblings, Michael Gunner, Melissa (Matt) Wagenhauser, and Amberlyn Whitson, along with many Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, and Cousins, who love him and will miss him. He is preceded in death by his cousin, Lisa, and grandparents on both sides.
A celebration of Jake’s life will be announced soon. His family and loved ones welcome prayers, support, and cherished memories as we honor the man he was and the legacy he leaves behind.
