Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jacob Tyler Emmons

Jacob Tyler Emmons, 28, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on October 23, 2026.

Jacob was a tenderhearted soul whose warmth, compassion, humor, and genuineness touched the lives of countless people. He moved through the world with kindness and understanding, striving to treat others with empathy and to approach people with an open heart. He had a warm, sentimental spirit and a deep appreciation for the people, memories, and little things that made life meaningful.

Jacob brought his compassionate nature to his work as a family counselor at Hillcrest Abbey West, where he cared for families with empathy and understanding. He recognized the importance of kindness and thoughtful gestures, especially during life’s most difficult moments. His compassion extended beyond his work and into every part of his life, shaping the relationships he built and the people he loved.

The impact Jacob made reached far beyond his immediate family. Friends from middle school and high school, former coworkers, colleagues, and people from the various chapters of his life have joined in mourning his passing. The outpouring of love following his death reflects the genuine connections he made and the lasting impression he left on so many people.

The greatest love of Jacob’s life was his fiancée, Tazjae Reid. Their story began at Islands High School, where they first met as teens and developed feelings for one another, later describing each other as their first loves. After reconnecting years later, they rekindled their relationship and eventually became engaged in 2024. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, companionship, and shared interests. They loved traveling, cooking, painting, and hunting for board games with all their pieces at thrift stores. They also made thoughtful sacrifices to share holidays and time between their families, reflecting the care they had for the people they loved. Jacob and Tazjae shared a special bond and looked forward to a future together.

Jacob loved their dog, Tramp, and found joy in caring for his collection of plants. He enjoyed playing Xbox with his brother Brayden and listening to a wide range of music, spanning from Post Malone and Oliver Tree, to Nirvana and System of a Down. He had a dark and silly sense of humor and a genuine way of being himself. His warm and sentimental nature was reflected in the things he cherished and the relationships he held close.

Jacob deserved more time: more time to travel, to build a life with Tazjae, to pursue his dreams, and to experience the ordinary, beautiful moments that make a life. His passing leaves behind a profound loss and the ache of all the memories that should still have been made.

Jacob is survived by his fiancée, Tazjae Reid; father, Paul Emmons; step-father, Denis Antoine; mother, Nadine (Jason) Loomis; grandparents, Steve and Terry Emmons and Cheryl Tymofy; sisters, Brit (Scott) Gashi, Samantha Loomis, Penelope Antoine-Emmons, and Daphne Antoine-Emmons; brothers, Owen Loomis and Brayden Prouty; niece, Saoirse Gashi; and nephew, Quentin Gashi.

Jacob will be remembered for his compassion, sincerity, gentle heart, and the love he gave so freely. Though his time here was far too short, the kindness he showed and the connections he made will continue to live on in the people who knew and loved him. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

A service honoring Jacob’s life is planned for Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel in Garden City, Georgia. A celebration of Jacob’s life will also be held in NY at a later date, more details to follow.
