Obituary

Jack Elliott Newton passed away in Savannah, Georgia, in January at the age of 81. He was born in southeast Georgia on May 28, 1944.

After joining the United States Army, Jack was stationed in Germany and later saw military action in Vietnam. Upon returning to Savannah, he devoted many years to education, serving as a teacher and educator in both Chatham and Effingham counties.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, David and Donald.

Jack had a deep appreciation for classical music and was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for the works of H. L. Mencken. He will be remembered for his dedication to his students, his thoughtful nature, and his lifelong love of learning.

He will be interred at Greenwich Cemetery, where he will rest in peace.
