Obituary

Jack Crumley, born March 27, 1928, in Statesboro, Georgia, to Lester and Nina Crumley, passed away peacefully at the age of 98. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, kindness, and devotion to his family.

Jack devoted 39 years of his life to the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. A hardworking and dependable man, he took great pride in his work and in providing for those he loved.

He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Temple, where he also served on the church’s security team. Known for his friendly and caring nature, Jack welcomed everyone warmly and never met a stranger. His genuine kindness made people feel like friends wherever he went.

Jack enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, water skiing, and working in his yard. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage, always finding something to keep him busy, and loved listening to gospel music. He was proud of his country and the life he built.

Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Thelma; his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Kevin Shannon; his son, John Comer; his brothers Bill, Buck, Harold, Danny, Snuffy, and Robert; and his sisters Rachel and Wildred.

He is survived by his sister, Sara Joe Fairfield; his sons, David Comer (Anne) and Richard Crumley; and his daughter-in-law, Janis Comer and sister in law Ruth Crumley. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with several nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

The family would like to thank Bridge Hospice and the Assisted Living staff at The Social for the love, care, and support they provided.

Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will remain a lasting blessing to those he leaves behind. His kindness, welcoming spirit, steadfast faith, and devotion to his family will continue to live on in the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the lives he touched.

Though his passing leaves a profound void, his loved ones can find comfort in knowing that Jack’s earthly journey is complete. He is now at peace, reunited with his beloved Thelma and resting in the presence of Jesus, where he longed to be. May the love he gave, the faith he lived, and the memories he created bring comfort in the days ahead.

Rest peacefully, Jack. Your life was a gift, your love will never be forgotten, and your memory will live on in all of us.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11 AM at Calvary Baptist Temple with interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens immediately afterwards. Visitation with the family will take place an hour prior to the service .

Remembrances may be made in his memory to Calvary Baptist Temple, 4625 Waters Ave, Savannah GA, 31404
