On the afternoon of May 7, 2026, Sylvia Iris Morgan Blue peacefully passed over into paradise to be with our Lord and Savior.

She was born in Pooler, Georgia on February 13, 1937, to the late Willie Early Morgan and late Mildred Ruth Kinney. Raised by her parents and grandparents, the late William Guyton Kinney and late Mary Evelyn Cruse, to be a devout Christian she grew up loving God, her family, and her country. She was trained to a virtuous southern lady. She graduated in 1955 from Commercial High School in downtown Savannah. She had two children, Michael Anthony Wheless and Teena Veree Wheless. She loved animals and working in her yard and flower garden. She was very musically talented. An accomplished pianist, she had a very beautiful soprano voice. She played piano for the church at an early age and was continually asked to sing at funerals, wedding, and cantatas. She was the Chorus and Musical Director at Marlow School in the 1960s and taught piano to dozens of students. She later became the Administrative Assistant at Pooler Elementary School. She worked well into her 80s as the Manager of Merchandising for the Hallmark Greeting Card Company. Her strong faith in God was the cornerstone of her family.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Blue; two brothers, William Earl Morgan Jr. (Danny) and Roger Darrell Morgan; and a nephew, Jeffrey Allen Morgan.

She is survived by her children, Michael Anthony Wheless (Nancy) and Teena Veree Wheless; and brother, Dennis Don Morgan. Also surviving are two nephews, Bryan Keith Morgan (Kimberly), Darrell Trent Morgan; and several grandnieces and grandnephews, Paige Morgan Daring (Michael), Ansley Morgan, Brandon Morgan (Madison), Clinton Morgan, Amanda Lynne Morgan Gordon (Tyler), and Cole Morgan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening the 12th of May from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406).

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday the 13th of May at 11:00 a.m. at Ferguson Avenue Baptist Church (10050 Ferguson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31406).

Interment will follow the services at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bloomingdale, Georgia.
