Dwaine Henderson Tidwell, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a prolonged illness.
Born on November 6, 1942, Dwaine was a graduate of Richmond Hill High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War veteran. In recognition of his bravery and service, he was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” device in 1969 for valor.
Following his military service, Dwaine continued his dedication to serving his country through a distinguished civilian career with the Department of the Army, retiring after 28 years of federal service.
Dwaine was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Murray Tidwell, and his father, Charlie William Tidwell.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Loan Tidwell; his sons, Donald William Tidwell and Christopher Tidwell; his daughter-in-law, Serena Tidwell; his granddaughter, Morgan Tidwell and his sister-in-law, Ty Hoang. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember him with love.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and patriot whose life was defined by service, commitment, and love for his family. His memory will be deeply cherished by all who knew him.
Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.
