Dolores Ann Jagers Hoffman, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away March 3, 2026, after a short illness, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born August 11, 1934, in Clementon, New Jersey, Dolores was the daughter of Stephen and Rose Jagers. She was a proud graduate of Douglass College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, earning her degree in History.
Dolores dedicated her professional life to education and community service. She was an elementary school educator in Clementon and West Deptford, New Jersey, where she inspired countless young learners. She later worked at the West Deptford Public Library, a role she cherished. There, she delighted in organizing trips and coordinating guest speaker presentations, bringing people together through learning and shared experiences. Dolores and her husband Norm moved to Savannah in 2004 to be near their son Tom and his wife.
Dolores had a lifelong passion for travel. As a young girl, she explored the country on cross-country road trips with her parents and sister. Later, with her husband and family, she journeyed by Airstream travel trailer to every U.S. state and every Canadian province accessible by car. Her adventurous spirit eventually led her to the sea, where she and Norm embraced ocean cruising, travelling around the world and forming cherished friendships. She shared her love of cruising with her children and grandchildren on unforgettable voyages through the Panama Canal, the Caribbean Islands, and Alaska.
Most importantly, Dolores leaves behind a wealth of memories of kindness, thoughtfulness, patience, and generosity. These gifts are most evident in her two sons and grandchildren, who carry her spirit forward each day. We are forever grateful for all she shared with us.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Norman J. Hoffman; her sons Norman S. Hoffman (Janet) of Galveston, Texas; Thomas M. Hoffman (Gretchen) of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren Edward Hoffman and Anna Hoffman; sister Kathleen Kennedy (James) of Cedar City, Utah. She is also survived by nephews James Kennedy (Karen) of Spokane, Washington, Sean Kennedy (Gina) of Falls Church, VA, and three great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406).
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
