Obituary

Connie Lee Barker, age 77, of Savannah, Ga, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026 surrounded by those he loved.

He was a devoted husband for 54 years, loving father, proud Popie, and faithful servant of God. To know him was to experience kindness, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering love. He lived his life with integrity and strong faith, always pointing others toward Christ through both his words and actions.

He leaves behind a legacy that will continue for generations through the family he cherished so deeply. He was especially loved by his daughter, who proudly considered herself a true “Daddy’s girl.” Their bond was one filled with laughter, guidance, protection, and unconditional love.

Above all earthly things, he deeply loved and cherished his wife. Their marriage was built on a strong godly foundation and served as a beautiful example of Christ-centered love, faithfulness, and devotion. Through every season of life, they remained committed not only to one another, but to the Lord who guided their marriage. He loved her selflessly, honored her faithfully, and treasured the life they built together. Their relationship reflected grace, strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith, leaving a lasting example for their children, grandchildren, and all who knew them. Together, they created a home filled with prayer, love, laughter, and the presence of God.

Connie was a devoted community member, enthusiastically serving as a welcome desk service leader at Compassion Church. His warmth and welcoming spirit were hallmarks of his personality. An avid golfer, Connie found joy and camaraderie on the golf course, often sharing laughs and playful jokes with his golfing buddies.

More than anything, he loved the Lord and his family. His life was a reflection of faithfulness, humility, and grace. Though his absence leaves an ache in the hearts of those who loved him, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of his Savior.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Barker, of Savannah, GA, who was his constant companion and greatest love. He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle Johnston, and her partner Michael Minard; his cherished grandchildren, Gabrielle Johnston and Kole Johnston; and his beloved nieces and nephews: Hope Jones (Chuck), Scott Taylor, and Allen Shaffer (Dee). Additionally, Connie is fondly remembered by his great-nieces and nephews: Courtney Munoz, Lauren Eady, and Kathryn Roy.

He was preceded in death by by his mother, Kathleen Barker, and his beloved sister, Linda Strickland. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
